The Ginger plant is a single stemmed plant which produces broad glossy green leaves. These leaves appear alternately along the cane stem. The canes which grow in bunches or patches attain a height of up to three metres. They are found in Tropical Rainforest areas particularly around the verges of the forest or in sunlit locations within the forest. The underground knotted root system may be eaten after boiling. To remove the root, necessitates destroying the plant, and is therefore not recommended.
