These large Tree Ferns grow to a height of over five metres and may be found in Tropical Rainforest and moist eucalyptus forest areas.They are generally found with moist ground but occasionally in association with sunlit areas. The young fronds, before shooting are curled rather like a snails shell. These fronds are covered in small brown hairs. After removing the hairs, the curled fronds may be eaten raw but they do have a bitter taste. This taste is removed by washing and cooking the fronds before eating.
