A tall rush like grass found growing in Wet-lands and along the edges of creeks and rivers. The strands have no leaves and are hollow. The Spike-Rush is particularly favoured by the Magpie Geese for construction of their floating nests. The strands may obtain a height of up to 2 metres toward the end of the Wet Season.
