This yam is poisonous unless prepared properly. The yam vine is common in monsoon forest and open forests in the north and favours sandy loamy soil. It appears after the wet season, during the months of Feb, Mar, Apr, and May. The vine with its large heart shaped leaves, climbs and scrambles over other trees and low bushes.
