This bush looks very much like the coastal Hibiscus tiliaceus, which is also found in the same sandy coastal soils. There some reports that has also been seen growing in the Top End of the Northern Territory as well as small pockets in the Kimberley and the Gulf off Carpentaria. It grows in sandy loam type soil and always in close proximity to the sea. The leaves are large and heart shaped and notice that the veins all originate from the one central location on the leaf.
