A Tropical Rainforest tree that can reach up to 30 metres in height., which appears to favour high rainfall areas below 800 metres in altitude. The flakey-textured bark of the tree may be whitish-grey or orange-pink in colour. During the months of Jul, Aug and Sep the tree produces large pink-red fruit, squarish in shape and containing one central large seed. The fruit is produced in large clusters, which tend to droop or hang from the tree due to their weight. This is one of many Syzygium species that grow in the Cape York Peninsula.
