A medium sized tree of the Tropical Rainforest and Tropical Woodland areas. It is most often found beside watercourses such as rivers and streams. When the trunk of the tree is cut, a bright red watery sap exudes from the trunk. The tree has large tapered fleshy leaves that are green on top, and silver-coloured on the underside. The leaves often have an eaten appearance, as per the above photograph. During the months of Jun, Jul, Aug and Sep the tree produces numerous rusty brown capsules, which have a felt like texture.
