A prolific climbing vine of the Tropical Rainforest which produces lengths of yellow jointed cane up to 150 metres long. This is the same cane used for the manufacture of cane furniture. The leaf fronds have a palm like appearance. Edible berries are produced near the climbing ends (tendrils) of the vine during the months of Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb. These berries have a scale like skin and a single large seed, which is surrounded by a thin layer of edible flesh. This flesh which may be eaten raw, has a slightly tangy sour taste.
