The nest of the Hairy Caterpillar looks rather attractive like a smooth silk like bag hanging from the branches of an Acacia (Wattle) tree. Inside the bag during daylight hours are the caterpillars and their lava and droppings, all of which can inflict a very painful itching. The affected area of the skin will raise up in red welts and the pain can continue for hours or in some cases days.
