Giant Emu Berries can be found in open forest areas, along river flats and around rocky foothills. This is a a small bush or tree with long arching canes. The leaves are apple green in colour and broadly heart shaped, up to 30 cm across with saw toothed edges. Dead sticks from the previous years growth often remain attached to the plant.
