This fish inhabits Tropical inshore waters and estuaries, and the freshwater reaches of larger river systems. It can grow to well over 10 kg and has six fleshy "whiskers" around the mouth and a smooth slimy skin, often with a metallic sheen. The catfish is easily caught using a hand line on baits of fish flesh, red meat, or just about anything resembling food.
