A parasitic, leafless vine, sometimes found in tropical forest country, but particularly favouring sandy soils and beach-front areas. The vine is wire-thin, green through bright yellow to orange in colour, and tangles itself along the ground and over low shrubs and trees. It is sometimes so thick that it forms a dense mat of entanglement over surrounding ground and vegetation. The vine produces small green berries, slightly smaller than a pea, which turn translucent-white when fully ripe. Each of the berries has a single seed. The berries are found on the vines throughout the year.
