This climbing vine can be found through the northern and eastern regions of Australia. It has a fine featherlike foliage. The vine scrambles over low vegetation and produces a cluster of small pods, like pea pods. When the pod turns brown and splits open, it reveals the shiny bright red seeds. Each seed has a black spot. The brightly coloured red and black seeds of the Gidgee Gidgee, are extremely poisonous. One seed crushed and swallowed, is enough to kill a person. The seeds contain the poison Abrin. If particles from the seeds, or sap from the bark . . .
