The Coconut Palm is widely distributed throughout Northern Australian coastline, particularly along the Pacific coastline. As a survival resource it can supply food, drink, and shelter. The palm itself can grow to a great height and age. The palm produces large numbers of nuts encased in a thick fibrous husk. Upon maturity the nuts begin to turn from green to brown and drop to the ground. For this reason, it can be dangerous to camp under a Coconut Palm. Inside each nut is a liquid (milk) which is of excellent flavour. Nuts found lying on the ground should be shaken . . .
