A scrambling vine, common in northern Australia, which inhabits open woodland, closed tropical woodland, and sunlit areas of the tropical rainforest. In general, it appears to favour a humid tropical environment. The plant is originally from South America. Tasselled white flowers, with a dark purple throat or centre, are similar to domestic passionfruit. The leaves have three distinct lobes, again similar to the common passionfruit. Throughout the year the vine produces small fruits, about the size and shape of a marble, that turn from green to yellow when fully ripe.
