The Bush Banana closely resembles the cultivated species in appearance. It has a smooth skinned fleshy trunk and rich broad green leaves. Dead leaves turn from yellow to brown, and are of a dry brittle nature. The banana is found in Tropical Rainforest regions, principally in sunlit and well-watered areas such as forest fringes and creek banks. The sap of the trunk is clear and sticky, and may be used as an antidote for the Stinging Tree (Dendrocide excelsa) by applying the latex sap directly to the affected area of skin.
