Bracken Fern can be found in moist shaded areas and gullies and eucalyptus forests. The fronds of the fern are quite rough to touch. It can, in an emergency, be used as a survival food. The young undeveloped fronds or fiddler heads, must be boiled prior to eating. They have an asparagus-like taste. Research has found that prolonged usage over years, may cause cancer. The sap from young ferns was used by Aboriginal people to relieve the pain of insect stings. This was achieved by applying the sap to the affected area . . .
