The Blue Kauri Pine does not produce any edible food source, however it does contribute to survival in a completely different direction. Its distribution is limited to the higher regions of the Atherton Tableland Tropical Rainforest, those areas above 800 metres in altitude. The tree itself can grow to a height of 50 metres.
