The Blackbean or Moreton Bay Chestnut is a large tree of the tropical rainforest. During the months of May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, and Oct, it produces attractive seed pods. These pods when split in half contain up to six brown beans embedded in a white pith. The split pods resemble miniature canoes. The large seeds in their raw state are extremely poisonous and unless fully treated will produce severe griping. The seeds are first baked on hot coals then ground into a rough flour and washed in running fresh water for a minimum of ten full days . . .
